Speech-Language Pathology: November 2025 Annual Skills & Compliance Validation

The following competencies apply to all Speech-Language Pathologists participating in the November Skills Fair. These validations ensure safe clinical practice, infection prevention, and compliance with Tufts Medicine Care at Home policies and professional standards for patient care in home health and hospice settings.

Please arrive prepared with your clinical bag/bin (if applicable) and PPE. Upon arrival, your bag and bin will be reviewed by designated staff for infection control readiness. These validations are observation-based and focused on regulatory compliance and safety.

November Skills for Validation

• FIT Testing — Annual OSHA requirement verifying proper N95 mask fit and seal check.
• Bag & Bin Check — Verification of organization, PPE supply, and infection control readiness for field-based clinicians.
• Hand Hygiene — Demonstration of proper technique using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water, per CDC and DPH guidelines.

Each SLP is expected to demonstrate these competencies as applicable to their clinical role and care setting. Staff unable to complete a skill satisfactorily will be scheduled for 1:1 remediation with Clinical Staff Development.

Reminder: All staff must complete the 2025 Annual Compliance and Training Packet, test, and attestation by December 31, 2025.
