Inhaled Steroids
Inhaled Steroids:
- Reduce inflammation and swelling of the airways
- Because they are inhaled, the generally only affect your lung and airways, not your entire body
- Rinse your mouth, gargle, and spit after using them
Examples
- Flovent Powder and MDI (Fluticasone)
- Advair (Combination of Flovent and Serevent)
- Pulmicort (Budesonide)
- Aerobid (Flunisolide)
- Azmacort (Triamcinolone)
- Qvar HFA (Becclomethasone)
Possible Side Effects
- Oral thrush (Yeast infection of the mouth) and
sore tongue- Hoarseness
