Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Pursed Lip Breathing - Step 2
Pucker your lips as if you are whistling. Breathe out
slowly through your pursed lips for about 6 seconds.
You should make a soft whistling sound while you
breathe out. In general, breathing out should take
2 to 3 times longer than breathing in. This allows
your lungs to empty more effectively.
With regular practice, this technique will seem
natural to you. It can be used during physical activity
or any time you are short of breath.
