Long-Acting Beta-Agonists
Bronchodilators (Long-Acting Beta-Agonists):
- Open airways by relaxing muscles around them
- Often dry powdered inhalers, although they are occasionally taken as tablets
- The inhaled medicines are only taken twice a day
- Not to be used for quick relief of shortness of breath
Examples
- Serevent Diskus (Salmeterol)
- Advair Diskus (Combination Salmeterol &
Flucticasone)- Foradil (Formoterol)
- Volmax (Albuterol)
Possible Side Effects (Very uncommon)
- Racing heart
- Tremors
- Nervousness
