Lungs with Chronic Bronchitis
With chronic bronchitis, the airways
(bronchial tubes) become swollen and
inflamed and produce large amounts
of mucus. The swollen tissues and
mucus can making breathing difficult,
because the inside of the tubes
become narrow or closed in. The
airways (bronchial tubes) often
become easily infected, because it
is difficult to cough out the excess
mucus.
